Buddhist Altar Sutra book Edo period printed work

This is a Buddhist scripture from the Edo period printed on Japanese washi paper using wooden blocks. The hand printed characters offer a warmth and strength unique to that era. The paper retains its soft texture and muted tones that only age can provide. Remarkably, there is no damage from insects which is rare for paper of this age. However, there is some visible rubbing and wear on the binding. The interior pages are well preserved, but please be aware of the wear on the cover.
