WOODBLOCK PRINT Printing Block wood carving Temple Sutra

This is a wooden printing block for Buddhist scriptures dating back to the late Edo period. It is made from cherry wood which is known for its durability and fine grain. The characters of the sutras are still clearly legible and sharply defined. As a tool used to spread religious texts, it holds significant historical value. The condition is generally good for a used item of this age. There is some expected wear on the edges and natural aging of the wood, but the carvings remain well preserved.
