TAIKO Japanese musical instrument Tsuzumi Drums Makie

This is a traditional hand drum or tsuzumi from the Edo period featuring decorative lacquer work known as makie on the wooden body. It was originally used for classical Japanese music and noh performances. The structure of the leather and cords reflects the deep traditions of the era. The condition shows significant signs of age including dirt, tears in the material, and general deterioration. It is best suited as a historical display piece rather than for musical use.
