Tea ceremony utensils
This is a natsume tea caddy from the Taisho era featuring a beautiful maki-e design of clams. It is constructed in the nakatsugi style and bears the signature of the artist Ken. The clam motif is accompanied by Genji-ko incense symbols, creating a stylish atmosphere that reimagines ancient courtly elegance through a Taisho era lens. It is a graceful piece that adds a narrative element to any tea ceremony. Regarding the condition, there are signs of aging from long-term storage. The item is in average used condition throughout, particularly around the joints of the container. There is no major damage, but it shows the natural wear expected of an object from this period.
Age: PreWar early Showa (1900~1939)
Primary Material: Wood
Size: See the ruler in the image.
