TRAY Bentwood work dish plate set

 This is a set of a Magewappa tray and three plates made from Akita cedar during the Showa era. Magewappa is a traditional craft that began in the Edo period as a side job for samurai. The interiors are coated with red lacquer which creates a beautiful contrast with the natural wood grain. Although these items are unused they are in average condition with slight discoloration of the lacquer and minor surface wear due to age and storage.
